HEPA filters are not MERV rated, as they are two separate rating systems.
MERV is the acronym for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value, which measures a filter's ability to capture larger particles between 0.3 & 10 microns. MERV ratings primarily pertain to home AC/Furnace systems.
HEPA stands for High-Efficiency Particulate Air Filter. HEPA air filters are composed of fibrous materials that remove fine airborne particulates such as dust, pollen, mold, and even bacteria from the air.
Alen offers True HEPA H13 filters, which capture 99.9% of airborne particles as small as 0.1 micron in size (including aerosolized viruses).
